Obituary of Timothy J. Dort

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Timothy J. Dort, 82. He died peacefully on May 17, 2022 with his family by his side.  He is survived by his soulmate, best friend and unwavering caretaker, Sheila T. (Ceccucci) Dort. He was predeceased by his parents Wilburne and Bertha (Lomasney) Dort and a sister, Phoenix Dort. Survivors include his devoted children: Kimberly (Edward) Rosenberg, Todd (Jennifer) Dort, daughter-in-law Janice Dort; cherished grandchildren: Mackenzie Dort; Emilee, Edward III and Rachel Rosenberg, Joshua (Jennifer) Rosenberg, Enzo and Nico Dort; great grandchildren: Brynn and Alaeyah Rosenberg and his sisters, Eileen Brooks and Mary Martin, as well as several nieces and nephews. Tim was affectionately called GRANDPA, POP and Gp by his most precious gifts, his grandchildren.

Tim was born on November 27, 1939 in Schenectady and was a St. Columba's High School graduate, he continued his education at Oswego College. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Northampton. He worked at GE Schenectady's main plant for 25 years followed by many years of service at CRGC in Cohoes.  Tim could often be found in his basement where he would craft various woodworking gifts for his family and friends. He also had an admiration of hot rod and classic cars, various genres of music, trivia and reading. Tim’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Ellis Hospital for their care and compassion. 

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to a celebration of Timothy's life on Friday, May 20th at 12 PM at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville with Rev. Jason White officiating. Calling hours will precede the service from 10am-12 noon.
