Obituary of Michael David Moore

Dr. Michael David Moore, 56, of Alplaus New York passed away on May 21, 2022. Born in Amsterdam, NY to his parents Floyd G. and Loretta E. (Schelske) Moore. 

 

Since childhood, Mike always had a brilliant mind. After graduating from the former, Schenectady Academy (Mekeel Christian Academy), he continued his studies in higher education. He received his bachelors (1989) and master (1992) of science from Union College. Mike proudly earned his Ph.D from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2004.

 

He began his career as a Senior Project Engineer at International Paper in Moss Point, Mississippi, then moved to Newport, RI  to work for the  Naval Undersea Warfare Center. For nearly 10 years, he worked as a Development Engineer at General Electric in Schenectady, and then a short period at X-Ray Optical Systems in East Greenbush, NY. 

 

In 2004, he became the proud owner of his own business AetherMachines Inc., a technical creativity company that uses analysis-synthesis to take ideas and make them reality as machines. Mike’s intelligence and dedication to his work led him to success as an inventor of multiple applications and patents. Everyone who met Mike could tell he was passionate about his work. 

 

Mike was also a private pilot with hundreds of hours in the air, as well as a a licensed HAM operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing athletics at the Glenville YMCA and at Glen Hills Club in Alplaus, doing mathematics, singing in the choir at Zion Lutheran Church, and studying exterior ballistics.

 

 

He was a loving son, and is survived by his parents, Floyd and Loretta; brother, Daniel Moore; as well as extended family and cherished friends. 

 

 

A funeral service will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Schenectady on Saturday, May 28th at 3:30 PM. Burial will be private at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at glenvillefuneralhome.com
