Obituary of Daniel J. McLoughlin

Dateline: West Charlton

Daniel J. McLoughlin, 53, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on May 30, 2022. Born in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late John and Margaret “Mardi” (Donohue) McLoughlin. Dan was a 1986 graduate of Troy High School and went on to continue his education at Hudson Valley Community College. Daniel proudly defended his country in the United States Air Force. He enlisted in 1988 and was active duty until 1992.  Dan started his career with the Stratton Air Force Base in Scotia in 1993. MSgt Dan McLoughlin, US Air Force 109th ANG, served 33 years of creditable military service. He volunteered to support numerous military campaigns and deployments around the globe, to include the 109th Airlift Wing’s polar mission to Greenland and Antarctica. Dan served the majority of his career at the 109th AW, as an Aircraft Mechanic; having chartered his path to earn his position as the Dedicated Crew Chief of C-130 Aircraft 489. Some of the distinguished awards earned include the Antarctic Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, and the AF Expeditionary Service Medal. Daniel met his beloved wife Alline (Dinsmore) McLoughlin in 2003 and the couple was married on April 4, 2009. Together they shared many cherished memories. Alline was Dan’s best friend and soulmate. They were known as two peas in a pod. He enjoyed riding his ATV, his jet ski at Sacandaga lake and spending time at his cousin's camp along with cruising on his Harley Davidson. Dan was known as “Mr. Fix It” and never found a small engine he couldn’t fix. He was a kind man and would help anyone without asking for anything in return. Above all Dan treasured the time he was able to spend with his wife, family and many friends.

In addition to his wife Alline (Dinsmore) McLoughlin, he is survived by his brother Stephen McLoughlin (Dawn), father-in-law Allen Dinsmore, sister-in-law Norine Dinsmore, aunts Ann Wagner and Alice McLoughlin, niece and nephews Madeline, Jack and Timothy McLoughlin. His pets Henry, Lily, Monkee and Paco along with many cousins, extended family members and friends also survive.

In addition to his parents John and Margaret “Mardi” McLoughlin, he was predeceased by his brother Paul McLoughlin.
