Obituary of Jeanne Marie Corrigan

Dateline: Rexford

Jeanne Marie Corrigan, 77, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2022 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn surrounded by her loving family. Born in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late James and Marietta (DiDonna) Gargiulo. Jeanne was a 1963 graduate of St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam and went on to receive her bachelor’s and master’s degree in Education from the College of St. Rose. She married her cherished high school sweetheart, George Corrigan III, on August 24, 1968 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Amsterdam. Jeanne started her teaching career and then put her career on hold to raise her family while serving in several capacities with the school PTO. Once her daughters were grown, she re-established her teaching career at the Milton Terrace Elementary School in Ballston Spa as a Special Education Teacher, retiring in 2002. She was a woman of strong faith and was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville. Jeanne was known as the official “Prayer Warrior” of the family. In her retirement years, she and her husband would spend the winters in Naples, Florida where they spent quality time with family and friends. Jeanne found great joy in spending time with her family especially with her children and grandchildren. She was a gifted green thumb as she could keep any plant or flower looking beautiful. She was a pioneer in nutrition and assisted programs for the hungry. Jeanne always put others before herself and was an avid volunteer for many organizations over the course of her life. She will fondly be remembered by all that knew her.

Left to honor Jeanne is her beloved husband of 53 years, George Corrigan III, her daughters Erin Parrotte (Brian), Maura Agati (Andrew) and Shannon Koon (Brian). Her grandchildren who affectionately called her Nonna, Jailyn Parrotte, Grady Parrotte, Grace Agati, Ava Agati, Adrienne Agati, Madeleine Koon and Anna Koon. Her siblings James Gargiulo (Diane), Janet Gargiulo (Pat Ruth), Marietta McDowell, and Cathy London (John). Her sisters-in-law Paula Gargiulo and MaryBeth Corrigan and brother-in-law Kevin Corrigan (Paula). Many nieces, nephews and extended family members also survive.
