Obituary of William “Bill” Lehman
William C. Lehman, 70, of Round Lake NY departed this world peacefully at sunrise on June 21, 2022 in his sister Elsa’s home. Bill was born September 23, 1951 to George A. Lehman Sr. and Helen Wege Lehman. He spent his childhood in Scotia playing baseball with several Scotia Little League and Babe Ruth teams. He continued his love of ballgames, camping, fishing and hunting throughout his life. Bill was a huge music fan, and would tell you exactly when a song was on the charts from the beginning of rock & roll and quite a bit about the artists, too. He attended Scotia-Glenville schools until his enlistment in the U.S. Army (1969) where he served honorably, including a 14 month duty in Korea. In Pittsburgh, PA Bill received further education as an electrician. He held various positions with NY State, GE, VA Hospital and for decades at the Watervliet Arsenal. Up to retirement he served as Animal Control Officer for Round Lake and Clifton Park, where he made his home for the past four decades. His home was his castle, he loved working in his garage, grooming the landscape, enjoying the woods and creek. Bill shared this home with his beloved springer spaniels, Penny and Sunny, along with many feline friends. He loved taking rides in his classic cars with friends, of which he had many. Bill’s favorite summer spot was the Adirondack Mountains - especially Raquette Lake, listening to the loons call beneath a starlit sky.
In addition to his parents, Bill was tragically predeceased by younger brother Peter. Bill is survived by his four children: Christian Lehman (Rosie) and their daughters Melody, Melanie and Gina, and their grandchildren Khloe, Delilah, Jackson, Evelyn, Riley, Bailey, Aaliyah and Elijah of Texas; Andrew Lehman and his children Hunter, Hailey and Hannah of Texas; Kevin Lehman of Albany, NY; and Rene Lehman (Jeff Stevens) of Denver, CO. Bill leaves a lifetime of memories with his brothers George Lehman (Linda) of Ushers, NY; Frederick Lehman (Ruthanne) of Berne, NY; and sisters Helene Bollock (Robert) and Elsa Lehman, both of Scotia, NY. He is fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
Calling hours for Bill will be held on July 12, 2022 from 12pm - 2pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A funeral service will take place at 2pm at the funeral home. Interment in Park Cemetery, Scotia next to his mother, father and brother. A celebration of Bill’s life for family and friends will follow.
