Obituary of Joan Mary Bellmer

Burnt Hills- Joan Mary Bellmer, who loved to be called “Mom” by her kids, departed her loving family on Monday, August 29, 2022 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Joan Mary Bellmer was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1942 to Helen Steinborn Vehstedt and Christopher Albert Vehstedt.

Joan was mother to Mary Patricia Bellmer, Arnold Robert Bellmer II, and Catherine Ann Gamble. She raised her children with love and devotion in Burnt Hills, New York with her husband Arnold Robert Bellmer. 

As a Burnt Hills Ballston Lake School bus driver for thirty years, Joan was known for her kindness and compassion. Her hobbies included gardening, arts and crafts, and working with children. She was most proud of her husband, children, and grandchildren. What she loved most was Jesus and her family. She was a member of the Association of Hebrew Catholics. Joan was also co-leader of Miriam the Joy of Israel Havorout.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Patricia Bellmer and son in law, Mark Owens; son, Arnold Robert Bellmer II and daughter in law, Denise Bellmer; daughter, Catherine Ann Gamble and son in law, Phil Gamble, and grandchildren, Ashley Gamble, Justin Gamble, and Morgan Delaney Bellmer.

Aside from the children she loved so much, Joan is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Arnold Robert Bellmer, identical twin sister, Helen Lowrey, and cousin, Maryanne Turner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on 10 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park. 

Interment will immediately follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
