Robert “Bob” Earl Scribner, 95, passed peacefully at home on September 11, 2022. He was born in Schenectady, NY to his late parents, Rupert and Mildred (Weeks) Scribner. After graduating from Mount Pleasant High School in 1945, he proudly served in the United States Army in the AirCorps division. In 1947, he was honorably discharged from the military and continued his education at LeTourneau University in Texas.

Bob was passionate about his employment as an engineer at MTI in Latham and he dedicated himself to a career with General Electric at M&P Labs. Bob retired from General Electric in 1986, he was a member of the G.E. Century Club.

Bob was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in Schenectady. He served as a deacon and volunteered for many church activities. He had a strong faith and connection to his community. At church is where he met his future bride, the former Nancy A. Ferris. They were married for 69 years, during this time they raised 6 children and built their forever home in East Glenville. Family vacations included trips to Myrtle Beach and Cape Cod. Bob had a love for the great outdoors, camping, canoeing and going on family picnics at Fourth Lake.

In addition to his volunteer work at church, Bob helped at Schenectady Christian School and Camp Pattersonville. Bob had a love for photography, and was a longtime member of the Schenectady Photographic Society. His passion for photography led to many awards, as well as priceless photos of his grandchildren growing up.

The most important element of Bob’s life was his family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. His hobbies included working on puzzles, gardening, feeding the birds, and woodworking. Bob made exceptionally detailed award winning wood pieces that will be passed on to the next generations.
