Obituary of Suzanne L. Pohl

Suzanne L. Pohl, 77, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2022 at Albany Medical Center with the love of her family at her side. Born in Johnstown, NY she was the daughter of the late Guy and Dorothy (Vedder) Lathers. Sue was a 1962 graduate of Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School and went on to continue her education at SUNY Oswego obtaining her degree in 1966.

Suzanne married her beloved late husband Bernard Pohl in 1968. Together they shared 32 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2000. They owned and operated Stretch and Sew Fabrics from 1977-1986. Sue was a well-respected female business owner and was chosen as a Soroptimist. She was also a member of the National Stretch and Sew Franchise Council.

Sue was a dedicated elementary school teacher. Her passion for enriching the lives of children was evident by the admiration and interactions with her previous students. She worked for Scotia Glenville Central School District and retired after a 21 year career with the Ballston Spa Central School District.

Sue was a Commissioner of the East Glenville Fire Department and served as Chairperson for many years. In addition, she was a member of the EGFD Ladies Auxiliary.

She was a faithful communicant of Christ Episcopal Church in Ballston Spa and an Altar Guild member.

Sue enjoyed traveling, cards, and following her favorite sports teams. Above all she cherished the time she was able to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren who affectionately knew her as Oma.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Jacqueline Wojcik (John) and Andrew Pohl (Lenae). Her grandchildren Jenna Wojcik, Drew Pohl, Alexandria Pohl, Jillian Wojcik and Aidan Pohl. Sue’s sister Deborah Waldron (David) along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 5-8pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 12pm at Christ Episcopal Church, 15 W High Street Ballston Spa, NY 12020. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Scotia, NY.
