Obituary of Jerry Legorius

Jerry Legorius, 93, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2022 at Glendale Home with his family at his side. Born in Schenectady he was the son of the late Nicholas and Bessie (Vombila) Legorius. Jerry was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and proudly went on to defend his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1948 to 1952. He married his beloved wife Rose “Nellie” (Tossolino) Legorius in 1953. Together they shared 62 years of marriage until her passing in 2016. Jerry retired from the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier after many years. He was a long-time communicant of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Schenectady. Jerry took great pride in his home and always made sure his family was taken care of. Above all he cherished the time he was able to spend with his family. He will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughters, Joan Duell (Richard) and Beth Micieli , grandchildren: Jared Duell, Nathan Duell (Kari) , Audra Carpenito (Lenny), Joseph Amorosi and Brett Amorosi (Ashley) . Jerry leaves behind his cherished great grandchildren: Jolie Duell, Bailie Duell, L.J. Carpenito and Everly Duell. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jerry was predeceased by his son- in- law Peter “Mickey” Micieli and his siblings George Legorius, Frieda Legorius, Demetra Legorius, Katherine Fifield, Madeline Hourigan, Amelia Legorius and Joan Contompasis.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to call on the family Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 10-11am at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A funeral service will follow at 11am at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will take place at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Jerry’s name may be made to the Northeastern Association of the Blind at Albany, 301 Washington Ave Albany, NY 12206.
