Obituary of Tari L. Karbowski

Schenectady- Tari Lynn Karbowski, age 58, sadly passed away with loving family by her side on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY.

She was born in Schenectady, NY on February 25, 1964, the daughter of Patricia Paparella and John Karbowski.

She graduated from Mohonasen High School in 1982 and from State University of New York College of Art and Science at Geneseo in 1986. 

As a child and throughout her teen and adult years, she had a natural ability to create beautiful, impressive and accomplished artwork. Tari and three of her friends spent the entire summer of 1980 painting a mural in a Schalmont High School hallway of all rock band logos that were popular at the time. The mural remains in the school this day for all to see. 

Tari also began her career in all forms of dance at the age of four and continued throughout college; including a position of dance instructor while at Geneseo. Her ability and accomplishments in dance allowed her to perform in multiple Community Theater Productions in both Schenectady and Geneseo! 

Tari’s family and friends are devastated by her loss but know she is at peace, which she struggled so long to obtain. She was a caring, kind and thoughtful person throughout the lifetime she was given, even with the unfortunate medical challenges she was stricken with.

Tari loved her family and friends dearly and always sent birthday, holiday, and special occasion cards along with letters and special little gifts she had hand made thinking, “they would like it”. She loved keeping in touch by phone. Her special life long friend, Valarie stated, “ she always brought a positive touch to everything.”

For the last 13 years, Tari resided in Ticonderoga, NY, with her partner and caretaker, Robert “Bob” Ives. Their love for each other was genuine. He never left her side and the family is grateful to him for all he had done for her throughout their years together.

In addition to her parents and Bob, Tari leaves behind her brothers, Tony Karbowski (Lisa) and Jeffrey Karbowski (Annette); her nieces and nephew, Raegan Gleason (Brian), TJ Karbowski, Azalea KarDi and Zinnia KarDi; great niece, Isla Gleason; her Godfather, Uncle Jim Karbowski (Aunt Sue); cousins, Sharon Styles, Steven Karbowski, Kim Breault (Tim) and Kristen Clifford (Doug). She is also survived by many dear and caring friends, too many to list. 

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, November 11th from 9 AM to 11 AM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, memorial service to immediately follow. All are welcomed to attend. Inurnment will take place in Park View Cemetery, Schenectady. 

Memorial contributions may be made in Tari’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
