Obituary of Jean R. Conley

Alplaus- Jean R. Conley passed away peacefully on Nov. 6, 2022, at
Kingsway Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Pembroke,
Bermuda she was the daughter of the late Florence (Tumbridge) and
Fergus Ferguson. She graduated from Mount Saint Agnes High School.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Herman D. Conley and her sister
Mary Moulder.
She is survived by her sister Helen Shelton. She was a devoted mother
to her son, Douglas J. Conley of Charlotte, NC; her three daughters,
Jeanette A. Conley of San Francisco, CA, Nancy A. Conley of Kirkland,
Canada, and Linda A. Francois (Dirk) of Glenville.
She leaves behind her seven cherished grandchildren, Douglas (Lara)
Slobod, Sarah Conley, Avery (Laura), Kelsey (Lauren), Terry, and Haley
Francois, Nicole (Zachary) Ambrose; her great granddaughter Raya, and
her dog Murphy.
She enjoyed a career of over 30 years as an administrative assistant at
Union College. She loved meeting students and working with the
professors in several departments. She was also fond of painting,
quilting, knitting, and her garden. Jean LOVED her dogs! Throughout
her life she had many canine companions. Her favorite times of the
year were visiting the Jack Russell Trials in Maryland, watching the
Westminster Dog Show, and hosting Christmas dinner with extended
family. Even though she was in New York most of her life, she still kept
up with everything in Bermuda. She enjoyed the beach at Lake Luzerne
as it reminded her of growing up on the island.
Jean was a life-long resident of 66 years in Alplaus and enjoyed time on
her deck with a glass of wine looking at the creek. Her day would
always start with her completing the Wonderword in The Daily Gazette

and a game or two of Freecell while sipping a good cup of hot coffee!
She was a charter member of the Alplaus Ladies Auxillary and leaves
behind a village mural made with her dear friend Betty Hopson.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff
at Kingsway Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care and
kindness shown to Jean during her brief stay.
Calling hours will be at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road,
Glenville on Wed, Nov. 9 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, followed by a service at
6:00 pm given by her nephew, Deacon Andrew Moulder. Interment will
be on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery
at 10:00 am. Please meet at the front entrance of the cemetery by 9:45
