Obituary of Catherine M. Walsh

Catherine M. Walsh, 96, passed peacefully on November 20, 2022. Born in Schenectady, NY on September 30, 1926 to her late parents, Frank Joseph and Catherine Elizabeth (Punchak) Yunker. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, and received education in secretarial school at Mildred Elley. For 10 years, she worked as a secretary for General Electric.

At 96 years of age, she saw the world change before her eyes. Since an early age, she was interested in learning about the world, especially ancient history. Catherine always held an intelligent mind, where learning never ended. She was an avid reader and researcher, she also had a great group of friends who studied the Bible and how it came about. 

She married the late George W. Walsh, and together they raised their family in Glenville. Her children were her pride and joys, she was a proud homemaker who created a beautiful home, as well as her beloved gardens. 

Her family was very important to her, but also her fur-family. She was a lover of animals, especially dogs and cats. In her spare time, she enjoyed boating on Lake George, playing piano, and going to the Woodlin Club, which she was a member of for many years. 

She is predeceased by her loving husband, George W. Walsh, and brother, Frank Yunker Jr. 

To continue her memory are her children, Dwight (Cynthia) Walsh, Maureen (Peter) Kennedy, John (Loralyn) Walsh and her grandson, Eric (Loree) Nail; as well as 6 wonderful nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are welcomed to a graveside burial 11 AM on Friday, November 25th  at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave, Schenectady, NY 12302.
