Obituary of Carmela Cannavo

Carmela Cannavo, 89, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on December 10, 2022. Born in Limina, Sicily, Italy she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Dominica (Saglimbeni) Cannavo. Carmela was educated in Limina and married her beloved late husband Peter Cannavo on March 5, 1956, in Limina. She and her husband moved to the United States in 1956. Carmela was a dedicated homemaker. Making sure her family’s needs were tended to. She also was a longtime bookkeeper for a reality business in NYC for many years. Carmela was a strong woman of the Catholic faith. Above all, she cherished her family. Carmela will be remembered for being the heart and soul of the family and her generosity and thoughtfulness will continue in all those that knew her.
Carmela is survived by her devoted sons Theodore “Teddy” Cannavo and his wife Donna and Giuseppe “Joe” Cannavo and his wife Melissa. She was the beloved Nonna to Theodore “Little Teddy” and Peter Cannavo. She was also survived by her brother Benny Cannavo, her sister-in-law Diane and treasured nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents Carmela was predeceased by her husband Peter Cannavo and her brother Carmen Cannavo.
A calling hour will be held on Thursday December 15, 2022, from 9am-10am at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am at St. Anthony’s Church, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
