Mary Grace Savona

Obituary of Mary Grace Savona

Mary Grace Savona, 76, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on December 18th, 2022. Born in Caserta, Italy to her late parents Carmen and Angela Marie (Valentina) Sposito; she was one of 8 beloved children, who were raised with strong family values.

At 13, she immigrated to the United States with her family. As a first generation Italian-American, Mary Grace had to learn English, her Italian accent and broken English will lovingly be remembered.

When she was 19 years old, she met her husband, Annino Savona, who lived in Europe and was only in the states for a short period visiting his family. They fell deeply in love, and 2 months later, Annino and Mary Grace were married. Together they raised their family in Clifton Park, NY, their home was filled with love and faith. After 46 years of marriage, Annino passed away in 2011. It brings the Savona family peace knowing Annino and Mary Grace are reunited again, and will be together forever with Jesus.

Mary Grace was a hard worker, she was employed at General Electric, Union College, and was a talented seamstress. Her most important role, however, was being a Mother, and later in life a “Nonnie”. Her family was the root of her happiness and her purpose in life. No matter where, when or what, Mary Grace was there for her children and grandchildren, she was supportive and always in attendance to school events, games or milestones.

Aside from family, Mary Grace’s favorite place to be was in the kitchen. She loved cooking and feeding people. As her health declined, it broke her heart to no longer be able to cook. In Jesus’ care, she is now cooking up a storm in heaven!

As a person, her kind and generous soul shined through. She cared for others and was the first to offer help. When Annino needed a life saving kidney, Mary Grace gave up one of hers to save him.

Predeceased by her husband, siblings and parents.

To continue her memory are her children, Tony (Renea) Savona, Nino Savona and Linda Savona; cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Marco and Jonathan Savona; as well as surviving siblings, Frances St. Hilaire, Rose Seeger, and Dominick Sposito.
