Obituary of Maria D. Giacchini

Dateline: Glenville

Maria D. Giacchini, 89, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Schenectady she was the daughter of the late Richard and Victoria (DiMaggio) Daddario. Maria attended Nott Terrace High School and went on to secretarial school. She worked at General Electric as a Secretary until she married her beloved late husband Thomas L.H. Giacchini in 1956. Once she was married Maria was a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed golf and was a former member of the Edison Club in Rexford. Maria also enjoyed shooting and earned the nickname “Pistol Packing Mama”. Maria and her husband relocated to Savannah, Georgia, 30 years ago where they made many new friendships. She relocated back to Glenville a couple years ago to be closer to her daughter.  Maria was very artistic and loved creating floral arrangements. She touched the lives of many and was always ready for an adventure. Above all, Maria cherished the time she was able to spend with her family.

In addition to her parents, Maria was predeceased by her husband Thomas L.H. Giacchini and her son Thomas R. Giacchini. She is survived by her daughter Adrienne Hall and her husband Clifford “Cliff’ and her daughter-in-law Laura Giacchini.  Also surviving are her grandchildren Richard Hall (Michelle), Victoria Young (Tony) and Stefanie Giacchini along with her great grandchildren Liam and Bodhi Hall.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Glenville.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Maria’s name may be made to The Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
