Obituary of George Morby

George Morby, 97, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2022 at Saratoga Hospital. Born in Stillwater, New York, he was the son of the late James and Rose (Hanley) Morby. George attended Stillwater High School and went on to proudly defend his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He served in the Pacific theatre on an LST. He married his beloved wife Marion (Gregoire) Morby on September 25, 1954 at the Clifton Park United Methodist Church. George worked at General Electric as a machinist for many years, retiring in 1986. He was a faithful member of the Clifton Park Community Church. George had a strong faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior and was a faithful servant.  He enjoyed helping others and with projects around the church. George also enjoyed metal detecting, traveling, camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was known to be a jokester and could never miss a good yard sale.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 68 years Marion Morby, his children Linda Morby, David Morby (Cynthia), Roger Morby (Cynthia), Douglas Morby and Stephen Morby (Sarah). Along with his grandchildren Callie Slater (Michael), Phillip Morby (Alyssa), Dillon Morby, Abigail Morby and Habte Morby and his great grandson Bryce Slater, in addition to a large number of extended family members

He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers and sisters; James Morby, John Morby, Carl Morby, Raymond Morby, Alfred Morby, Rose Verespy and Eva Chase.

Visitation hours will be held on Saturday December 31, 2022 from 10am-12pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road Glenville. A funeral service will follow at 12pm at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. David Bissett officiating. George will be laid to rest with military honors on Monday January 2, 2023 at 9am at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Those wishing to process to the cemetery should arrive at the funeral home by 7:45am.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in George’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis TN 38148-0142.
