I remember Greg as an amiable, knowledgeable colleague at the State Museum. For me he was, as well, a remarkable model maker who created significant, appealing miniatures for museum visitors to see and learn from. Greg's model of Grand Central Station took much time for him to produce, but the result itself was grand. As a history curator at the museum, I was always pleased to work with Greg. I think of him as one of the important staff members who helped grow the State Museum during his time there.

Cathy, I'm sorry I've just learned of your father's passing, maybe you no longer look at these postings...I just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear of your loss. I remember your dad well, I saw him often at festivals and concerts and could always pick him out in the crowd. I know you were very close and will miss him terribly. Our parents leave such a large hole in the world when they go.
I hope I'll run into you some day at a class of '76 .reunion, or maybe at Old Songs.

It was actually Rosalie who was responsible for our initial connection with this wonderful couple. She had heard Tom singing at the Eisteddfod Festival in New Bedford. Rosalie liked what she had heard, but they both had reservations about a singer describing himself as 'salty', which had connotations in North America that weren't apparent to us Brits! However, on Rosalie's recommendations, they both came along to listen to Tom the next day, and one of the most valued of our lifetime friendships was born. We often made their home in upstate New York a stopping point during our life on the road, and the hours dissolved as we chatted around the kitchen table, where music was only one of the many topics we debated, argued and laughed over. When Lyn had difficulty with the accounting processes in her new job, it was Rosalie to whom she turned for advice. We loved the eccentricities of their home and Greg's sometimes macabre creations. We treasure the pieces of jewellery Greg fashioned for us; Tom never steps on stage without the ivory anchor belt buckle Greg made for him him. We even managed to entice them on a canal boat trip in the UK - which was a pretty big deal given Rosalie's fear of water. Our last conversation with Greg was via Facebook, where he could show us some of his latest wooden creations, and we were both so reassured to see him smiling, despite Rosalie's recent passing. We love you both dear friends, and our world is poorer without you. Our love and condolences to both your lovely daughters, Cathy & Jude. Lyn & Tom Lewis

Cathy and Jude, I'm so sorry for your loss. It was so good to see Greg out at the Old Songs concert in honor of Tony Barrand this past November. I appreciate that he and Rosalie came to my mom's funeral in 2014. I will miss him as a person even more than I'll miss singing with him! Joyce Cockerham

So many wonderful memories of singing with Greg at PSG gatherings over the last few decades. I'm from faraway Connecticut, and Greg was always welcoming, as were most all of of the singers, encouraging me to jump right in and hang with the inner circle of locals. In that large, highly skilled group of traditional folk singers, Greg was generally considered to be one of the top few.

Cathy & Judy,
So sorry to learn of your Dad's passing recently. He truly was an accomplished man who could easily be described as a man's Man. A very talented individual in many areas especially in wood working and music. His deep voice, laugh and his huskiness is something I will always remember about him. May the memories of laughter & shared good times with him, family and friends carry you all through the days ahead.
Fondly,
Pete & Jan OBrien
