George J. McCarron Jr., 89, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late George and Ann (Nee) McCarron Sr.. George was a graduate of Cambridge High School and went on to continue his education at Boston College. He proudly defended his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956.  George married his beloved late wife Eleanor (Carr) McCarron on August 11, 1956. Together they shared nearly 65 years of marriage until her passing in 2021. George worked for General Electric for 37 years, retiring in 1994 as an Analyst in the Power Systems Contract Practices Operation. He was a longtime, faithful communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville and served as a greeter and on the counting ministries. George was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10013, Scotia Glenville Senior Center, the GE Elfun Society and several golf and bridge groups. Above all George cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Patricia McCarron (Bill Thieke), James McCarron (Sharon), Susan Pennings (Tim) and Linda Jolly (Michael).  His grandchildren Meghan Tiernan (Nick), Kathleen Danilczyk (Wil), Lindsay McCarron (Ben Fisk), Rachel DeMonte (Nick), Sara Russell (Will), Phillip Pennings (Jessica), Jordan Pennings (Rachel), Aaron Pennings, Rebekah Brown-Collins (Finn), Leah Beck (Jordan), Anna Fowler (AJ), Joanna Pennings, Scott Thieke (Alissa), Shawn Thieke (Kelsey), Jesse Moskowitz (Daniel) and Joshua Jolly.  His great grandchildren Micheala Pennings, Brynn Tiernan, Liam Pennings, Charlotte Tiernan, Charlie Danilczyk, Luke Russell, Noah Danilczyk, Tessa Tiernan, Mia DeMonte, Rowan Thieke, Patrick Fowler, Weston Thieke, Leo DeMonte and Jesse Pennings. 

In addition to his parents and wife, Eleanor, George was predeceased by his siblings John McCarron (Ruth), Mary Rooney (James) and Thomas McCarron (Patricia).

Calling hours for George will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 3-5pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 11:30am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville. His Mass will be live streamed via the Church's Facebook page. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.
