Clovel Joseph

Obituary of Clovel St. Lewis Joseph

Clovel St. Lewis Joseph, 71, passed away peacefully at his home on March 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Roseau, Dominica, he was the son of the late Wilson Joseph and Cela St. Lewis. Clovel was educated in Barbados and came to the United States in 1980. He married his beloved wife, Nancy Jo (Persch) Joseph, on December 30, 1979. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers 158, Local 106. Clovel worked for W.M. Schultz Construction, Callanan Industries, and Hudson River Construction Company. After many years of dedicated service, he retired in September 2022 from the City of Schenectady Street Department as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Clovel also ran his own business for several years, Clove’s Construction. Clovel was also a former member and Commissioner of the Rectors Fire Department. He was a “jack of all trades” and enjoyed tinkering with cars. Clovel enjoyed music and singing, and playing pool. He was also a skilled tailor, a self-proclaimed shepherd, and a collector of things. Above all, he loved his family and cherished the time he was able to spend with them. He took great pride in building the family home. Clovel will be remembered as a friend to all, with a loving, giving, and vibrant spirit. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Nany Jo Joseph. His children, Troy Joseph, Kathy Joseph, Brenda Joseph, Nicole Canning (Steve), Pheona Browne (Orvin), Sherita Buckmire (Robby), Efia Alcid (Eric), Aiyana Joseph (T.J.), and Nathan Joseph (Rachel). Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, brother Mervin St. Louis, sister Jessica Blanc Royer, and several nieces and nephews.
