Obituary of Patsy Sarrutto

Patsy Sarrutto, 91, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady he was the son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Pellegrino) Sarrutto. Patsy was educated in Schenectady schools and then went on to proudly defend his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for General Electric as a Truck Driver for many years retiring in 1993. Patsy married his beloved wife Roberta “Birdie” Sarrutto in 1989, however, they have shared 53 years together. He was a dedicated lifelong boxer known to many as “Peppy”. He won the Golden Gloves at the age of 15 and never lost his spark for boxing. Patsy enjoyed camping on Saranac Lake, boating, fishing and playing cards. Above all, Patsy enjoyed and cherished the time he was able to spend with his family.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Roberta “Birdie” Sarrutto, his son Joseph Sarrutto, stepson Kenneth Deyo (Jacquie), stepdaughter Paula Deyo, granddaughter Angelina Sarrutto and stepgranddaughters Kimberly and Kristina Deyo.  Patsy is also survived by his sister-in-law Barbara Tiedemann, brother-in-law Richard Coon and brother-in-law Edward Prentiss (Shirley). Several nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Patsy was predeceased by his siblings John Sarrutto, Steven Sarrutto, Concetta Boilard, Carmella Sarrutto, Philomena Rapp and Rita Millie and his mother and father-in-law Helen Prentiss and Richard M. Prentiss, sister-in-law Helen Ann Prentiss Coon and his brothers-in-law Gregory Tiedemann and Richard A. Prentiss (Barbara)

A committal service with military honors will be held on June 26, 2023, at 1 pm at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Patsy’s family would like to thank Care Links CAPTAIN of Southern Saratoga County, Community Hospice and the many family members and friends that have been so supportive during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Patsy’s name may be made to the Community Hospice 310 S. Manning Blvd Albany, NY 12208 for the wonderful care and compassion both Patsy and his family received.
