Darline Goertz

Obituary of Darline Lou Goertz

Darline Lou Goertz, 84, of Glenville, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2023. Born on April 24, 1938, in Albany, NY, to her late parents, Leslie and Thelma (Swanson) Lyons. She lived a life filled with love, faith, and strong connections with family and friends.

Darline was predeceased in 2013 by her loving husband, Richard Goertz Jr, whom she married on September 12, 1959.  She is survived by her loving children, Kenneth G. Goertz (Bridgett) of Las Vegas, NV, Jill K. Fox of San Diego, CA, and Keith D. Goertz (Maria Williams) of Rotterdam, NY. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to her grandchildren, Rachael Goertz (Hannah Nelson), Jacqueline Goertz (James Mickel), Jacob Goertz (Meredith Cuddihy), and Sarah Goertz. Darline was also predeceased by her sister, Diane Monti, and her loving stepfather, Harry A. Canova.

After high school, Darline pursued a career as an X-Ray Technician, working in healthcare until she transitioned into the most important job in the world, a stay-at-home mom. She took immense pride in her home and loved to make it special, especially during the holidays. Darline was a devoted friend who remained close with her elementary school classmates throughout her life, demonstrating the depth of her commitment to the people she loved.

Darline was a dedicated caretaker to her husband for 17 years after he suffered a life-altering aneurysm. Her faith never subsided; she was a proud member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. As a wonderful homemaker, she raised her family in the Burnt Hills Ballston Lake School district, where she forged lasting friendships and created a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends.

A talented crafter, Darline made the holidays magical with her beautiful decorations and handmade crafts. She enjoyed attending craft fairs and sharing her creations with others. Earlier in life, Darline could often be found bowling at Skyway Bowling Alley or polka dancing with Richard, both the couple's favorite pastimes. Darline also had a passion for music, expressed through learning to play the accordion.

Family and friends are welcomed to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 547 Saratoga Rd, on Thursday, April 6th, from 10 to 11 AM for a calling period. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM, officiated by Pastor Deron Milleville. Service will be live-streamed on the Glenville Funeral Home Facebook Page. Burial will be scheduled at a later date.
