Obituary of John Hoey
John Francis Hoey, 84, died peacefully, October 30, 2012 at the home of his daughter Mary, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born on March 28, 1928 in NYC, John was the son of the late John and Ann (Francis) Hoey. He served in the U.S. Army in the post WWII occupation, and was stationed in Japan. He married the former Mary Eileen McNulty at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church in Manhattan on October 4, 1952. The couple moved to Carle Place, NY shortly after they were married. When John was reassigned by his work, they moved to Clifton Park. John was a claims manager for Kemper Insurance for 38 years retiring in 1990. Following retirement, John and Mary spent twelve years during the winter months in Gulfport, FL. John's life revolved around his family. He enjoyed fishing, American history and the outdoors in upstate New York.
John's beloved wife Mary passed away on October 12, 2005. His brother, Joseph Hoey, also predeceased him. Survivors include his son, John Kevin Hoey and his wife Holly of Baltimore, MD, five daughters: Ann Hoey and her husband Steven Elgert of Bow, NH, Eileen Kerr and her husband Donald of Winthrop, ME, Mary Hoey of Ballston Lake, Barbara Davis and her husband James of Ballston Spa and Trisha Fielding and her husband William of Queensbury, NY. His sister Dorothy Walsh of Brentwood, NY also survives John John leaves behind 14 cherished grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:30 AM at St. Mary's Church, Milton Avenue in Ballston Spa. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Calling hours will be held Thursday (November 1) from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville.
