Obituary of Marie Cooke

Marie T. Cooke, 92, longtime Fairborn resident, died December 8, 2013 at her daughter's home in New York, with her loving family by her side. Born Marie T. Baldowski in Augusta Georgia on March 22, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Christine Williams Baldowski. Marie eventually moved to Ohio in the early 1940's and became associated the rest of her adult life with the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton( Fairborn). She was married to her former husband, John W. Cooke who died in 1991. Marie worked as a clerk for 30 plus years at the base up until an aneurysm caused her retirement at age 53. Marie was a communicant of the Abiding Christ Lutheran Church in Fairborn. She was actively involved with the Fairborn Lions and Lioness Club, Dayton Art Institute, Victorian Theatre and American Red Cross. Survivors include her daughter, Sharyn E. Dornfeld of Burnt Hills, NY; her grandchildren: Christina Ford of Eagle Point. OR , Stephanie Sixbey and her husband Mark of Walworth, NY, Geoffrey Kothman and his wife Rose of Burnt Hills and Lauren Dornfeld of Atlanta, GA; cherished great grandchildren: Kyle, Emily and Evan Sixbey; Aaron and Andrew Kothman. Marie leaves two close cousins Ernest Lee and Carl Goldman. Visitation will be held Dec. 20 from 6-8 PM from the Morris and Sons Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St. Fairborn. Funeral services will take place Saturday, Dec. 21 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Medway Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Marie T.
