Obituary of Marie Gabriele

Madalene (Marie) Gabriele, 78 of Glenville, NY passed away on Wednesday, December 25th at Fox Run at Orchard Park Retirement Community in Orchard Park, NY. Marie was born in Schenectady, NY on March 10th, 1935 to the late Martin DiGiuseppe and Madalene DiGiuseppe-Mays. Marie attended Burnt Hills -Ballston Lake schools graduating from high school in 1953. She started work at Wallace-Armor and Carl Company in Schenectady and on July 1st, 1956 married the late Orlando (Gabe) Gabriele. Marie resided in many area of the country including: White Plains, NY; Drexel Hill PA, Bay St. Louis MS, and San Jose, CA as result of her husband 's job related relocations during his career while employed at General Electric. Marie returned to the area in 1965 as a homemaker and mother to raise her family in Scotia, NY - working part-time at a local florist and her family physician's office. Marie was of Roman-Catholic faith and an active parishioner and avid volunteer at St Josephs Church in Scotia, NY. Marie was very family oriented. Her graciousness and optimism followed her wherever her travels, interests, and family took her. She enjoyed reading, exercising, practicing her religious faith and her heartfelt time with her two granddaughters Marie was predeceased by her daughter Regina Marie, 4 brothers Carl DiGiuseppe, Ralph DiGiuseppe (Josephine), Armond "Rocky" DiGiuseppe, Domenico "Marty" DiGiuseppe (Helene) and 2 sisters Christine Iovino, and Louise Ragusa (Biagio). She is survived by her son Martin and daughter-in-law Maureen (West) Gabriele, two grandchildren Kristen E. Gabriele and Corinne N. Gabriele and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 9:30am on Monday Dec. 30 at St. Josephs Church, 231 2nd St. Scotia. Relatives and friends are invited to call the funeral home from 3-7pm on Sunday Dec. 29. Entombment will follow the mass in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery; Troy Schenectady Road, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made in Marie's memory to the American Cancer Society.
