Obituary of Raymond Bankert
Raymond Joseph Bankert Jr., 87, died peacefully at home on Birch Lane in Scotia
NY on December 30, 2013. When recently asked, Bud Bankert stated that the best
thing in his life was marrying Patsy Kauth,"no doubt about it!"
He was born November 15, 1926, in Utica NY, son of Lois and Raymond Bankert Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia Kauth Bankert. He
leaves 6 children; James (Karen) of Alexandria VA, Raymond (Eve) of Greenville
SC, Stephen(Susan) of Cuttingsville, VT, Elizabeth of Enfield NH, Susan (Scott)
of Sadsburyville PA, and Patricia (Bob) of Queensbury, NY. He has 14
Grandchildren and 3 great grand-children and many nieces and nephews. He will
be missed by the Bankert and Kauth families.
After graduating high school from Utica Free Academy, Bud enlisted and served in
the United States Army. He attended Dartmouth College on the GI Bill, graduating
in 1949, and from the Tuck School of Business in 1951. He was a manager of
finance at GE in Schenectady NY for 35 years.
He was a family man who loved skiing, camping, boating. He fulfilled his dream
of owning a home on beautiful Lake George, NY. He will be remembered for his
sense of humor and quick wit. He loved to read and was a student of history, and
kept his dictionary and world atlas close by. He was an accomplished tennis
player, golfer, skier and bridge player. He used his considerable poker playing
skills to help fund his college education. Never one to shy away from sharing
his opinion, he passed his good advice along to his children and grandchildren.
He was extremely proud of all his children . He loved to share stories and
laughs in the company of his family, while relaxing with a cigar and a martini.
Bud was predeceased by his parents, his brother Robert and wife Marguerite.
Calling hours will be held Thursday 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, January 2, 2014 at the
Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. East Glenville, NY.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to the funeral mass for "Bud" on
Friday, January 3rd at 8:30 AM at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400
Saratoga Rd. Glenville with Reverend Jerome Gingras officiating. Interment with
military honors will follow church services Friday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon
National Veteran Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. Schuylerville, NY.
The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions to St. Vincent de Paul
Society of the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Remembrances of Bud may be
