Obituary of Coralea Barner

Coralea M. Barner, 81, of Meriline Ave., died peacefully January 2, 2014. Born in Ovid, NY, she was a daughter of the late Hobert and Olive Rice Frazier. Cora grew up in Edinberg and attended Northville High School. She met her husband at one of the local dances and married William H. Barner on July 6, 1953. William worked for G.E. as an accountant and the couple moved to the Schenectady area, settling in Glenville. A few years later, they built their home in Scotia where they have lived over 50 years. Coralea was of the Methodist faith. A homemaker and mother of three adventurous boys, Cora was there as they adventured into life's ups and downs. She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Cora loved animals and nature as a whole. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family and those she loved. Survivors include her beloved husband, William H. Barner; three sons, William Barner and his wife, Kathleen of Ballston Spa, Jeffrey Barner and his wife, Karen of Fairport, NY and Brian Barner and his wife, Bonnie of Scotia; her cherished grandchildren, Michael (Paola) Barner, Daniel Barner, Lindsay (Joshua) Foote; Carly Barner, Christopher and Katie Barner. Coralea leaves her sister, Patricia (Louis) Borini of Glenville and a brother, DeWitt (Joan) Frasier. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 7, at 11 a.m. in the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Scotia-Glenville. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday.
