Obituary of Melvin Crenshaw

Melvin Lorrin Crenshaw, 79, passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2014. Born in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Virginia Elisabeth Wright and Marvin Richard Crenshaw. Melvin married the former Charlene Korando on June 8, 1957. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia with a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering. Melvin went to work for the General Electric Company right out of college. He was employed 36 years and as a Consulting Engineer for an additional two years. Melvin was a longtime member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and was elected Fellow in 1993. He was a recipient of several awards throughout his career at G.E. and had numerous Publications. Melvin was a longtime member and former president of the Glenville Fish and game club. He was also a lifetime member of the Guan Ho Ha Fish and Game Club in Glenville. Melvin was an avid outdoorsman and would take every opportunity he could to ride his bike, mountain climb, canoe, cross country ski, and sail with his wife and children. He also enjoyed camping, riding his motorcycle and was an avid fan of electronics. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Charlene Crenshaw; cherished sons, Kenneth A. and Kevin M. Crenshaw both of Rexford; his grandchildren: Matthew, Benjamin and Olivia Crenshaw. Melvin is also survived by his brother, Marvin R. Crenshaw of Gaithersburg, MD. A gathering of relatives and friends will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. East Glenville, NY.
