Obituary of Shirley Gregory

Shirley M. Gregory, 81, of Glenville died peacefully Friday at Ellis Hospital January 10, 2014 with her family by her side. Born on October 6, 1932 in Carbondale,Pennsylvania, the beloved daughter of Harry and Anne Tolley, she moved to the Schenectady area in 1939. Shirley was a Medical Secretary in the Neurology Department at Ellis Hospital where she was employed for 28 years. She married John Gregory on July 14, 1972. Shirley was active with Sacred Heart-St. Columba's Roman Catholic Church in Schenectady and sang in the church choir for many years. She was an accomplished soloist and a member of the Schenectady Light Opera Company. Shirley was President of the Christian Service Committee for many years. The Gregory's moved to Glenville in 2006. Her husband John passed away in 2008, and her daughter, Margaret Clemovich in 1984. Survivors include her daughter Anne Leets (Peter) of San Juan Capistrano, CA, her son William J. Clemovich (Karen) of Bare Foot Bay FL and granddaughter Christina Diener (Nicholas) of Los Angeles, CA. Shirley is survived also by a brother, Arthur White (Theresa) of Long Island, NY and two sisters; Joanne White of Long Island, NY and Aldean White of Crossville, Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday (January 15, 2014) at 9:00 AM at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. with Jerome Gingras officiating. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend and may also call on the family at the GLENVILLE FUNERAL HOME Tuesday, (Jan. 14) from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Interment at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
