Robert Fugate

Obituary of Robert Fugate

Robert Dale Fugate, 59, of Albany Street, died January 9, 2014 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Bronxville, NY, he was an area resident for 15 years. Bob was a welder/machinist at Metweld in Albany until becoming disabled. As a young man he was fascinated and imagined building violin instruments. His imagination was put to reality as he became a skilled woodworker and mastered the art of violin and cello building from a stock of a carefully selected wood! As one could imagine he also made the instruments he created sing! Bob was an avid motorcyclist on only one type of bike of course. He enjoyed touring on his Harley Davidson Super Glide. A tall man in stature he had a kind gentleness that easily showed through as soon as you met him. He was predeceased by his parents Stephen and Catherine Fugate. Survivors include his wife and cherished best friend, MaryAnn Nolan, step children: Kurt D. Nolan and Ginger E. Henderson; sisters, Catherine A. Fugate and Margaret Perry. Bob will be missed by his grandchildren: Levi and Nathaniel Henderson. A private family gathering and prayer service was conducted in the Glenville Funeral Home with Rev. John Hopkins officiated.
