Obituary of Mildred Mains

Mildred A. Mains, 84, formerly of Glenville for 52 years, passed away January 12, 2014 at the Home of the Good Shepherd Assisted Living Residence, Moreau, NY. Millie was born in Schenectady on April 21, 1929, the daughter of the late Ralph and Mildred White. She graduated from Draper High School in 1947 and worked for 10 years as a technical librarian at the General Electric Company. On October 3, 1953 she married Edward Mains and later left GE to become a homemaker and raise her family. She enjoyed ceramics, cooking, square dancing, and playing mahjong. Millie was a member of the Woodlin Club, an avid tennis player and member of the Burnt Hills Tennis Association. She attended Burnt Hills United Methodist Church where she enjoyed helping with various church functions. Millie was predeceased by her brother William White in 1994 and by her husband Edward in 2004. She is survived by her sons: Robert Mains (Lori) of Morgan Hill, CA and David (Kerri) Mains of Ballston Spa; five grandchildren: Andrew, Peter and Kathryn Mains of Morgan Hill, and Emily and Jonathan Mains of Ballston Spa; a sister: Joyce Davis of Glenville; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Millie will be held on Tuesday (January 21) at 11 AM in the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd, East Glenville. Interment will take place in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenridge Rd, Glenville. Relatives and friends are cordially invited and may also call on the family Monday (January 20) from 6 PM to 8 PM.
