Obituary of Frances Orbacz

Frances Orbacz, 98, of Wynwood Niskayuna, formerly of Cypress Drive, passed away January 20, 2014 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady on November 30, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Josephine Urban Orbacz. Frances attended Mont Pleasant High School and as a young adult lived on Goose Hill in Schenectady. She moved to Cypress Drive in the early 1970s. Frances worked at the General Electric Co. Though never marrying or having children of her own she taught her nieces and nephews social etiquette, proper manners and to be well rounded in religion, education and social endeavors. Fashionably conscious herself, Frances taught her nieces and nephews proper dress suggestions, entertained at parties given often for them and gave special treats during the holidays. Frances had a specialness about her that always made people feel that they were the best at what they did. She made one feel unique and important in the world! She formerly attended St. Mary's Church in Schenectady and was proud of her polish heritage. She had a sweet tooth, had a favorite color in purple and could not miss the game shows Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Frances was close to her sister, Emelia, who passed away in 2009. She was predeceased also by siblings, Lottie Deyoe (2004), Benjamin and Victor Orbacz. She was a very close friend of Fr. Dybas and Sister Eva and her longtime friend, Irene Healey. She missed her neighbors on Cypress Drive but continued to make friends and participated in many activities at Wynwood where she was a resident nearly five years. The family wishes to thank the staff at Wynwood and Dr. Mina Sun; also the staff of Ellis unit 6A. She is survived by 13 nieces and nephews and close friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church Schenectady which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Those wishing to call on the family may do so at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville, Thursday, January 23rd from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral Mass. Interment will be at Park View Cemetery in Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Ressurection, 1346 Chrisler Ave., Schenectady, NY 12303.
