Obituary of Helen Treis

Helen S. Treis, (Karandy), 94, a longtime Glenville resident passed away January 29, 2014 at Kingsway Arms. Born in Schenectady on December 20, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Eve(Bak)Karandy. Helen grew up in Schenectady and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School. She later was employed at G.E and met her husband, Paul Treis. They were married on July 6, 1946 at the Church of St. Adalbert. The couple gave birth to a daughter, their only child, Nancy Eve Treis in 1950, the same year the family moved to Genville. The Treis's became members of the Immaculate Conception Church. Paul passed way on October 1, 1998. Helen continued to maintain her own home and showed her artistic ability in arts and crafts. Helen was very domesticated and loved to sew and cook. Helen was predeceased by her brothers, John "“Walt"”, Theodore "“Teddy"”, Frank and William Karandy and her sisters: Stella Garb, Emily and Victoria Lasak. Survivors include her loving daughter Nancy E. Treis of Glenville ; sister, Irene Karandy of Palm Coast, FL and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a calling period Monday, February 3, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 am at Glenville Funeral Home followed at 10 AM by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. East Glenville. Rev. Jerome Gingrass will officiate the mass. Helen will be laid to rest beside her beloved Paul in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
