Obituary of Edward Giaquinto

Edward V. Giaquinto, 80, of Ballston Lake, passed away February 1, 2014 at Ellis Hospital. He was the son of the late Ralph and Adele Giavque Giaquinto. His beloved wife, Marilyn Ostergren Giaquinto passed away last July 1st. Born in Schenectady on March 6, 1933, he was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. He served in the Air Force from 1954-58. Ed received his B.S. degree from Arizona State University in a three year advanced engineering program. Later he earned his master's degree in mechanical engineering from Union College. An extremely bright person, he held memberships with the National Honor Societies of Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Eta Sigma. Ed was employed from '61-'93 as an engineering manager for Materials and Processing for G.E. His professional memberships included (ASME) American Society of Mechanical Engineers, (IEEE) The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Elfun Society. Following retirement, he enjoyed his passion with computers and tinkering on cars. He was an avid gardener and golfer as well. Ed is remembered as a kind and generous man with a good sense of humor and loved the sound of children's laughter. Though he and Marilyn had no children of their own, they took great pleasure in spending time with their nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Pashal Giaquinto. Survivors include his loving sister, Constance (Rudy) Nedvidek of Rotterdam and brothers-in-law, Paul (Rose) Ostergren of Orlando, FL, Warren Ostergren (Veronika) of Socorro, NM and Cindy A. Johnson (Michael) of Glenville. Edward also is survived by several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Monday (Feb. 3) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 4) at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. The Reverend Jerome Gingras will officiate. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorials may be made in Edward Giaquinto's name to the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
