Obituary of Frank Leackfeldt

At the Glendale Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, Frank F. Leackfeldt, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Frank was born on May 10, 1931 in Pattersonville, NY, one of four children of the late Frank and Melissa Leackfeldt. After attending public schools in Pattersonville and Rotterdam Junction, Frank graduated in 1952 from Northwestern University, where he held memberships in the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society and the Theta Xi social fraternity. Frank married the former Francine Clancy on March 7, 1953 while he was an officer in the US Navy from 1952-1956. Frank began work at GE in 1956 on the Business Training Program. During his career he held a number of financial positions including, but not limited to, the Manager-Finance Operation of GE's Research and Development Center in Niskayuna. For several more years, after retiring in 1991, Frank continued as a GE consultant. He was a member of the GE Elfun Society, GE Quarter Century Club, and Northwestern University Alumni Association. Frank was predeceased by his brothers: Walter and George, and sister Mabel Leackfeldt. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Francine; loving daughters: Belinda Leackfeldt of Ballston Spa and Lori Humphries of San Diego, CA; as well as his cherished granddaughter Autumn Humphries. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the Glendale staff on C-4 for the care they gave to Frank. Funeral services will be held Saturday (March 1) at 11:00 AM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville with Pastor Charles Roberts of Ballston Center Presbyterian Church officiating. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend and may also call on the family at the Glenville Funeral Home on Friday (Feb. 28) from 5PM - 7 PM. Burial will be in the spring at Van Vechten Cemetery, 509 McDougall Road, Town of Florida, Montgomery County, just off NY State Route 160 near Pattersonville . Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation or to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue Scotia, NY 12302.
