Obituary of Margaret Blake

Margaret Mary Blake "Peg", nee: Shannon, 91, of Glenville died peacefully November 12, 2012 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady on June 7, 1921, she was the daughter of Earl and Hannah Chriss Shannon. Peg married Charles Blake on August 26, 1945 and later had a home built in Glenville in 1948 where she has lived ever since. Mrs. Blake worked at the Plaza Theatre in Schenectady for many years and enjoyed meeting Nat King Cole, Lucille Ball and Mary Tyler Moore to name a few celebrities who came to Schenectady. She was a tremendous cook and enjoyed scenic road trips and stopping to eat at various establishments along the way. Peg spent a majority of her summer at the Great Sacandaga Lake with her family and her best friend, Bear. Peg always let it be known her guardedness of her sons motocross endeavors, muscle car racing, and high performance speed boats! She did mention as Jeff went out the door "Bring me home a trophy"! Charles had passed away on February 4, 2000. Peg was predeceased by her siblings; Otto and Burdett Shannon and Marcia and Frances Famiano. Survivors include her cherished son and right hand man, Jeffrey C. Blake (companion Diane) of Glenville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held (Nov. 16) Friday 12 noon from the Glenville Funeral Home 9 Glenridge Rd. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend and may also call on the family Thursday from 6 - 9PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery.
