Obituary of Hector Guynup

Hector Joseph Guynup, 92, of Glenville and most recently a resident of the Capital Livung Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 14, 2014. Born in Schenectady on June 11, 1021 he was the son of the late Carrie and Orville Guynup Sr. A graduate of Mont Pleasant High School in 1940, he entered the U.S. Army in 1941 and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Upon honorable discharge from service he worked in the bakery business with his father, and later joined the A&P Tea Company working there 34 years until his retirement. Hector loved to read, amassing hundreds of books throughout the years,enjoyed gardening, and watching his favorite TV shows; Jepordy, American Pickers and American Greed. He was a gentle spirit who loved to reminisce about the "good old days" in Schenectady and had a delightful sense of humor. He will be sorely missed. Hector is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Josephine Facchini Guynup of Glenville, daughters Sandra and Holly,grandchildren, niece Rose and husband Angelo Mercurio and family of Burnt Hills and Friends. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Orville, Jr. and sisters Dorothy and Martha. Special thanks to Dr. Phelan, Dr. Masina and Deborah Marcello, RN at the D-4 Cardiac Floor at Albany Medical Center and the staff at the Capital Living Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on the Oak and Cedar wings. Family and frieds are cordially invited to call at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. from 12 noon till 1 PM on Monday, March 17th. A service of remembrance will take place at the funeral home at 1 PM. Entombment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer 's Most Precious Blood of Jesus Patio.
