Obituary of Barbara Geene

Barbara J. Geene, (nee: Bruno), 70, of Glenville passed away peacefully on November 16, 2012 at Baptist Health and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia, NY. Barbara was born in Troy, NY on January 8, 1942, the daughter of the late Frank and Lorraine Rinaldi Bruno. She grew up in Troy and attended Catholic Central then to Lansingburgh High School, graduating in 1961. Barbara was previously married to Nicholas Martone who passed away in 2003. She worked for SUNY at Albany, retiring in 2004. On November 9, 1996, Barbara married Stephen A. Geene and they resided in Glenville, NY. Barbara enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She had an infectious laugh, a great sense of humor and was always the "Life of the Party", She loved listening to music, especially the Beatles. Barbara is also remembered as being a great cook. She worshiped at Burnt Hills United Methodist Church, was a member of the Glenville Senior Citizens Center and a lover of animals. The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful compassion and sensitivity shown Barbara at her stay at Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Baptist Health and Rehabilitation Centers. Barbara was predeceased also by her sister Cheryl Loftfield. Survivors include her beloved husband, Stephen Geene; her son, Nicholas S. Martone of Troy, daughters, Pamela Christopher (Thomas) of Averill Park and Carrie Martone of Troy. Barbara leaves behind her brother, Richard S. Bruno (Mary Ann) of Troy, grandchildren: Shane, Wyatt, Summer, Trever, Nicholas and Genna; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 21, at 11:00 AM at Burnt Hills United Methodist Church, Route 50, (Saratoga Rd.) Burnt Hills, NY, officiated by Pastor Holly Nye. Relatives and friends are cordially invited and may also call on the family Tuesday (Nov. 20) from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, Inc. or to Burnt Hills Unioted Methodist Church, 850 Saratoga Rd. Burnt Hills, NY 12027.
