Obituary of Raymond Koby

On May 25, 2014, Raymond Francis Koby, 85, of Glenville found a quiet and peaceful spot where he can now enjoy endless amounts of fishing, hunting and beautiful scenery. Born in Amsterdam, New York on April 27, 1929 he was the son of the late Felix and Sadie Kobieszewska. Raymond was a 1947 graduate of Wilber Lynch High School and went on to serve in the Army during the Korean War as a Private First Class. He married his beloved wife, Charlotte on September 30,1950. Raymond worked at General Electric Company in Schenectady for 32 years starting as a manager of small motors and retiring as a manager in the turbine department in 1986. The two most important parts of Raymond's life were his family and the outdoors. He was happiest while spending countless weekends with his sons, hunting, fishing and camping in the Adirondacks. He was a member of the Newcomb Sportsmen's Club with his brother-in-law. From 1970-1984, Raymond was also a part of Troop 15 with the Boy Scouts of America group. Additionally, he was a faithful communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Scotia. Raymond is survived by the love of his life and wife of 64 years Charlotte; his sister Josephine Chace (Donald); his sons, Michael Koby (Rita) of Smithville, TN and Mark Koby (Christine) of Glenville, NY. Raymond was also a grandfather to four, as well as an uncle to several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014, 9:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Church in Amsterdam with Rev. Robert DeMartinis and Rev. Joseph Busch officiating. Interment will follow at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at the Glenville Funeral Home from 5 PM to 8 PM Friday May 30, 2014.
