Obituary of Dolores Blumer

Dolores S. Blumer, 83, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Gateway House of Peace in Ballston Spa, New York. Born in Dickson City, Pennsylvania on June 26, 1930, Dolores was the daughter of the late Anthony Shargay and Rose Nuzback Shargay. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady, New York and formerly resided in Scotia, New York for more than 60 years. Dolores worked for the Scotia-Glenville school system for several years while raising her three children. She was later employed as a secretary at General Electric Company for over twenty years in Schenectady and at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna. She loved to travel, work in her garden, play bridge and socialize with her friends. In her later years, she relied on the kindness of her neighbors for assistance, particularly Linda and Rick, to whom her family is eternally grateful. Dolores is survived by her son Lawrence Blumer and his wife Mindy of Cedar Rapids and Truro, Iowa; her daughter Susan Wougk and her husband Harry of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey; and her daughter Nancy Wentz and her husband Robert of Farragut, Tennessee. She was Nana to her grandchildren Michael, Timothy, and Daniel Wentz; Matthew and Lauren Wougk; and Jesse Yaw. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 1:30 to 3pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville, followed by a memorial service at 3pm.
