Obituary of Bartholomeo Caruso

Bartholomeo A. Caruso Sr "Bart", 82, died on Saturday, November 24, 2012, while hunting. Bart was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Vincenzo and Carmella Ruggierio Caruso. He was a graduate of Nott Terrace high School subsequently enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving his country from 1948-'51. Bart was a lifelong area resident, residing on Goose Hill, and was known as a genuine "Good Guy" throughout the Goose Hill Community. He married the former Doreen Salisbury on February 14, 1951. For over 35 years he worked for the postal service, retiring in 1985. Bart was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church as well as a member of the the Rotterdam BPOE Lodge 2157. Bart was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed reading as a past time. Bart was predeceased by his wife Doreen on July 2, 1987, as well as two daughters: Vicki Ngirailemensang in 2001 and Nancy Closson in 2007. Survivors include his son, Bart A. Caruso Jr. and his wife Cindy, of Mariaville; and his sister Mary Ann "Babe" Pasquarella, of Rotterdam. Bart leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Melissa (Joel) Pomeroy, Cassandra (Allen) Powell, Justine Caruso and Christopher Closson; his great grandson Eliot Pomeroy; his son-in-law Donald Closson and as well as several nieces and nephews. Bart is also survived by the Light of his Life, Ann Polsinelli. Funeral services will begin Wednesday November 28 at 8:15 AM from the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. and be followed at 9:00 AM by a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place, celebrated by Rev. Richard A. Carlino. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend and may also call at the Glenville Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM. Interment will take place at St .John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady. Contributions in Bart's name may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St. Schenectady, NY 12308.
