Obituary of Mary Hayner

Mary Izzo Hayner, 89, formerly of Church St. Ballston Spa, died peacefully September 15, 2014. Born in Schenectady on February 6, 1925, Mary was the daughter of Angelo and Ralphaela DePasquale Izzo. She grew up in Schenectady and graduated from Nott Terrace High School. Mary was united in marriage to Melvin Hayner in 1948. She moved to Prattsville NY, and had worked a number of years for Stamford Electric. She was famous for her apple pies and was an all around an excellent cook and wonderful hostess. Following the death of her husband, Mel, Mary moved back to Ballston Spa in 2010. She entered the Baptist Health and Rehabilitation Center Nursing Home in September. She was predeceased by her brothers Quentin and Frank Izzo and her sister Angelina Harris. Survivors include her brother Anthony "Tony" Izzo, (Mary), of Scotia, NY. She leaves behind several cherished nieces and nephews. Robert and his partner, (Yvonne Leonardo) of Amsterdam, Mary Brym (Martin), of Bowie, MD; Teresa Fabozzi, ( Alex) of Amsterdam, Anthony Izzo, (David Iorio) of Saratoga Springs. Mary leaves behind several grand nieces and nephews, Michael Izzo (Cara and TJ), Nicole Izzo, Martina (Chris) Hendrickson, Andrea Fabozzi, and Alex Fabozzi III. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 22 at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union St, Schenectady . Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 21, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. Following services on Monday there will be a procession to Fair Lawn Cemetery in Prattsville where committal services will be conducted at 2 PM. Mary will be laid to rest beside her husband.
