Obituary of Annino Puzzuoli

It is with sadness we announce the passing away of Annino "Benny" Puzzuoli, 85, of Avenue A, Schenectady. Benny died suddenly and peacefully on Monday , September 15, 2014 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Casalvieri, Province of Frosinone, Italy on December 26, 1928. He was the son of the late Francesco and Felicia Marsella Puzzuoli. He was in the Italian Army and was educated in Italy learning an art of masonry construction to which he carried this knowledge and craftsmanship to the USA in 1966. He married Elvira Puzzuoli in December 1951. The Puzzuoli's have been parishioners of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Schenectady since moving to Goose Hill. Mr. Puzzuoli worked for various area builders and construction companies. He retired in 1989 but not actually so. Benny was a self taught magician at repairing anything that needed fixing. His backyard machine shop helped many neighborhood friends and family. He tended tirelessly to a vast garden of vegetables that would feed an army, and enjoyed making his own wine. He was a generous and kind person who gave the fruits of his labor to friends and family. Benny was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with family, the central part of his life. Survivors include his beloved wife Elvira, two daughters, Maria Zarrelli of Niskayuna and Elsa Caschera (Angelo) of Rotterdam. Brother, Onorio (Maria) Puzzuoli and sister Benedetta Rocca, all of Paris, France. His cherished grandchildren: Filomena Zarrelli (Dave Trahan), Nic Zarrelli (Sarah), Laura Cole (Robert), Antonio Caschera (Julia) and Daniela Caschera (Maurizio Rossi). He is survived also by 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Fausto Zarrelli and brother-in-law Raffaele Rocca. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Union St. Schenectady with Rev. Richard A. Carlino officiating. There will be no calling hours publicly held. Entombment will follow the mass at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy-Schenectady Rd. Niskayuna. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Benny's name to St. Anthony's Church Restoration Fund, 331 Seward Palace Schenectady, NY 12308.
