Obituary of Lualene Diel

Diel, Lualene ALPLAUS Lualene Diel, 96, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 18, 2014 surrounded by family and friends following a long illness. The daughter of the late Albert and Anna Werner, Lualene was born in Newburgh. She married the late Donald Diel in 1942, and they resided in Alplaus, since 1945. Lualene was actively involved in the community as well as the Cub Scouts and the Alplaus United Methodist Church, where she served on several committees both business and social. Lualene and Don had the honor of representing their community on two separate occasions as grand marshals of the annual Alplaus Fourth of July Parade. Lualene had retired from the US Post Office several years ago. Lualene is survived by her sons, Bryon of Gansevoort, and Donald of Rivervale, N.J.; her grandchildren, Kelly Wolford, Michelle Edwards, Laura Jordan, Ken and Todd Diel, and Erin Blackwood; her great-grandchildren, Christine, Thomas and Shawn Wolford, Emma and Will Edwards, Finn Jordan, Kamryn, Karly and Kyle Diel, Robert and Daniel Diel, and Abigail Diel. Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 20 at 10:45 a.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A calling period will precede the service from 9 -10:45 a.m. Interment Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions, in Lualene's name, are requested to the Alplaus United Methodist Church, 3 Brookside Ave., Alplaus, NY 12008.
