Obituary of Patrick Johnson

Mr. Patrick F. Johnson, (Pat, "P.J.", Uncle Pat), 81 of Evergreen Blvd., died peacefully September 29, 2014 at Morristown Medical Center with his loving daughters by his side. P. J. was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Johnson. He graduated from St. Columbus High School in Schenectady in 1950, completed the G.E. Apprentice Course and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Empire State College in 1976. Pat was a longtime resident of Schenectady and Scotia-Glenville. He was of the Catholic Faith. Patrick patriotically served in the Korean War for two tours of duty. Mr. Johnson was an engineer at General Electric in Gas Turbine Department retiring in 1994. In his early years he played professional baseball in the minors for the Philadelphia Phillies. He loved fishing trout streams, lakes and rivers throughout his life and later enjoyed fishing with his grandkids. P.J. was an avid gardener and proud of his annual harvests of tomatoes. Proficient in both golf and billiards, he passed his love of sports to to his grandchildren whom he adored. He was a regular at the Glenville Queen and enjoyed the companionship of his close friends and family. Survivors include his daughters, Robin Barrasso and her husband Robert and their children: Robert Jr., Andrew and Colin; and Kimberly Arneson and her husband Cliften and their children: Brady and Samantha Arneson. He leaves two sisters: Mary Mallia of Cobleskill and Virginia Chartrand of Ohio. Pat also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 4 at 9:00 AM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Relatives and friends are cordially invited and may also call at the Glenville Funeral Home Friday from 6 PM to 8 PM. Interment will be at Park Cemetery with military honors.
