Obituary of Nate Barker

Nathan 'Nate' Barker Clifton Park Nathan Nate Barker, 78, of Coachman Square, passed away peacefully October 2, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Lincoln and Bernice Vadney Barker. Nate, a proud graduate of BH-BL HS and Springfield College, had a long distinguished career with the YMCA in Cortland, Schenectady, Troy and Albany. He was a longtime Rotarian and was proud of bringing the 1976 USVBA/YMCA Volleyball National Championships to Union College. Nate enjoyed camping, Jimmy Sturr polka music, and the exploits of hisgrandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Bernadette Spoerer Barker; his children, Deidre(Alex) Beckford of Glenville, Pamela (James) Ryan of S. Glens Falls, Jeffrey (Dawn) Barker of St. Louis, MO and Wendy (Anthony) Accardi of Ocean Township, NJ; his 11 grandchildren, Kiersten and Gabriana Beckford, Brittney, Greggory, Kaileigh and Makenzee Ryan, Lynsey and Sean Barker, and Andrew, Alexander and Matthew Accardi; his four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Barbara Streetman of Monterey, CA. A period of visitation will be held Sunday, October 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Scotia-Glenville. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
