Obituary of Ruth Knight
Ruth B. Knight, 105, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2014 at the Wesley Health Care Center. Born in Gorham, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Olive Barker. Ruth received an education to become a teacher and, after several years of teaching, became a homemaker. She and her late husband, Harland, lived in several states throughout their life. Ruth enjoyed playing bridge as well as dedicating her time to charitable organizations. She proudly served as the president of the Old Ladies Home in Jackson, Mississippi for over 20 years. The Old Ladies Home even named a wing after her as a thank-you for her dedication to the home. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Harland Knight; her brother, Edward Barker; her sister-in-law, Rhoda Barker and her daughter-in-law, Joan Knight. She is survived by her son, Peter A. Knight; grandsons, Peter A. Knight Jr. (Colleen) of Queensbury and Timothy J. Knight (Stephanie) of Clay, NY; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Olivia, Brayden and Taylor Knight; and a niece, Beverle (the late Thomas) Aceto. The family would like to thank the staff of Three Springs at Wesley Health Care. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, South Paris, Maine. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a
