Obituary of Shirley Wolfe
Shirley Ida Wolfe, 84, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 13, 2014. Shirley was born in West Fort Ann, NY, the daughter of the late Clifford and Mabel (Durkee) Brayman. She graduated from the Fort Ann Central School and was the valedictorian of the class of 1947. For five years, Shirley worked for the Glens Falls Insurance Company, and then worked for the Federal Government as a secretary in the Department of Veteran Affairs Administration in Glens Falls. After her tenure there, she worked for the New York State Park Service and the New York State Power Authority. In 1959, Shirley married Walter Wolfe in Saratoga Springs. They moved to Scotia, NY where they raised their family. Walter established the private accounting firm Walter J. Wolfe P.A. E.A. where Shirley worked as chief secretary for the accounting practice. Throughout the summers, Shirley loved going back to her roots to spend time in West Fort Ann. She maintained beautiful floral gardens at her homes in West Fort Ann and Scotia. Shirley also took pride in taking her daughter to ice skating competitions throughout the Northeast, along with enjoying helping her with her school work. She and Walter traveled extensively throughout the East Coast. Shirley is survived by her husband, Walter; her daughter, Kathleen Wolfe Tetrault of Alexandria, VA; and her granddaughters, Lydia Ann and Camilla Marie Tetrault. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18th at 10 a.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., with Jack E. Arnold officiating. Calling hours will be on Wednesday 3 to 5 p.m. at Glenville Funeral Home. Committal services and interment will take place privately in Brown Cemetery, W. Fort Ann.
