Obituary of Lawrence Van Epps

Lawrence E. Van Epps, 65, of Swaggertown Rd. passed away suddenly at Ellis Medicine on December 3, 2012. Born on August 3, 1947, the son of Stella Zabelski Van Epps of Glenville and the late Elbert Van Epps. A '66 graduate of BHBL Central Schools he went on to receive his apprentice training from G.E. He worked for a while for Andersen Boat Shop in Burnt Hills and tinkered with building motors for sprint cars. He was married at St. Joseph's Church in Scotia to Rorie M. Van Vorst on October 17, 1970. Lawrence taught the Apprentice Training Program for G.E. for several years and worked as shop manager at the Research and Development Center in Niskayuna. He retired in 2010 after 40 years of service. Mr. Van Epps was an avid boater on the Great Sacandaga Lake and enjoyed stock car racing and watching NASCAR. Survivors include his wife Rorie M.Van Epps, son Christopher L. Van Epps and his wife Karen, daughter, Jennifer R. Kristel, all of Ballston Lake and daughter, Sarah R. Van Epps-Croto and her husband Iain of Glenville; a brother, Daniel (Ann) Van Epps of Ballston Lake and sister, Phyllis Richards (Bruce) of Saratoga Springs. His cherished grandchildren: Patrick and Shelby Van Epps, Kyle Kristel and Collin Croto; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Church, 173 Midline Rd. (Route 146A) Ballston Lake. A calling hours from 10-11 AM will precede the mass at the church. Interment will take place at Prospect Hills Cemetery in Northampton.
