Obituary of John Motto

John J. Motto, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 14, 2014 at Saratoga Hospital with his loving family at his side. Born in the Bronx he was the son the late John and Elizabeth Motto. John was a graduate of Monroe High School in the Bronx and went on to marry his childhood sweetheart Patricia on September 11, 1965 at the Blessed Sacrament Church. He proudly worked for UPS and retired after 32 years. John bravely served in the Army from 1959 until 1961 and always had a strong sense of patriotism and love for his country. He also had a great passion for cars, especially his 1966 Mustang and Fords, which he took meticulous care of. John loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his home, going out to dinner with his friends John and Joann, visiting Saratoga Race Track and collecting antiques. However, John was most famous for his wonderful sense of humor and willingness to help anyone out, which earned him the nickname "Johnny on the Spot". John was predeceased by his beloved son John James Motto, who passed on July 17,2014. He is survived by his wife Patricia Motto; his son James John Motto and wife Suzanne; his grandsons James John Motto Jr. and Jack Edward Motto and his granddaughter Julianna Alexis Motto. John is also survived by his beloved canine companion Beemer. Several cousins and friends also survive. Funeral services will begin Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville. A procession will follow to St. Mary's Church, Milton Ave., Ballston Spa, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12pm. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 9a.m. to 11 a.m.. Entombment will be held privately at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
