Obituary of Linda Wagner

Linda Ann Wagner Glenville Linda Ann Paap Wagner passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Friday, December 19, 2014. She is now in heaven with her parents, Simon and Lina Paap; her sister, Irene Paap Zgonce; and her mother-in-law, Edythe Elwell Wagner. Linda leaves her husband of almost of 56 years, Wayne E. Wagner; and her daughters, Belinda A. Wagner, Wendy Wagner (Ed) Robeson, Nancy E. (David) Schaffer, Patricia L. (Robert) Zych and Susan B. (Dwight) Zobre; and her eight grandchildren, Nathaniel and Juliana Robeson, Bryan and Cynthia Zych, Helena and Lily Jane Schaffer and Rebecca and Michael Zobre. She also leaves her brother, Peter H. Paap and his wife, Anne; and her nieces, Linda Zgonce DelaPena and Amy Zgonce Moore; and her nephews, Randall Paap and Christopher Paap and their families. Linda grew up in Brockport, New York and graduated from Brockport High School in 1957. Upon graduation she entered Strong Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She also attended the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from Ellis Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse. She continued with coursework and maintained her license. Linda loved her family and she made all of the holidays special. She always put her family before herself and nurtured her five daughters to become daughters she could take pride in. She enjoyed big family gatherings, neighborhood parties and time spent with friends. Linda also traveled extensively with her husband and children and especially delighted in visiting Germany, Holland and Japan. Linda volunteered at all of her children's activities including being a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, room parent, PTA president and PTA lifetime achievement award recipient. She also volunteered as a member of the Buffalo Jayncees, Schenectady Junior League, and Glen Oaks Garden Club. Linda volunteered at many area blood drives. Linda also volunteered in many ways for the Scotia United Methodist Church. She also worked in the family business. Linda was an ardent supporter of the United States Olympic team Christian Children's Fund and Save the Children. Linda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She helped with the first weeks of life of her grandchildren and gave them their first baths. Linda attended her grandchildren's sporting events, recitals, plays and other activities. She was proud of all they did. Linda was a member of the Scotia United Methodist Church for almost 50 years. She was a member of the Dorset, VT United Church of Christ and Presbyterian Church of Coca Beach, attending the two churches when spending time at her home in Vermont and Florida. Linda will be greatly missed for her love and guidance. The family takes solace knowing she is now in heaven. The family thanks the Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice for their compassion. They also thank Dr. John Angerosa for his guidance and Susan Gutmaker for her kindness. Friends and family members are welcome to attend visiting hours held on Monday, December 22nd from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glenville Funeral Home. The funeral will take place at Scotia United Methodist Church on Tuesday morning, Dec. 23rd at 10 a.m. Flowers are accepted at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scotia United Methodist Church, 201 N. Ten Broeck St., Scotia, NY 12302. Arrangements are entrusted to the Glenville Funeral Home of Scotia-Glenville.
